Shaji is currently pursuing his PhD under the guidance of Dr. Peter Scriver and Dr. Samer Akkach. His PhD dissertation examines the marginalisation of the south in contemporary (post-Independence) Indian architectural historiography.

His published articles deal with contemporary issues and problems of identity
in a post-economic-liberalization, globalising Indian society.
